Apple iOS 10.3.1 update fixes WiFi and other zero-day vulnerabilities
Apple iOS 10.3.1 is currently rolling out for iPhone, iPad and the iPad touch.
Apple has announced a new iOS 10.3.1 update for iPhone, iPad and the iPad touch. As the version number implies, the new update is the first patch to iOS 10.3 released a week ago.
Apple iOS 10.3.1 is available for iPhone 5 or later, 4th generation iPad or later and 6th generation iPod touch or later. The update fixes WiFi vulnerability which allowed an attacker within range to execute arbitrary code. The update also addresses a stack buffer overflow through improved input validation. Apple's support page notes that this update offers fix to Project Zero vulnerabilities cited by Gal Beniamini documented under CVE-2017-6975.
This update also allows 32-bit devices iPhone 5, iPhone 5c and the 4th generation iPad to get the update over the air. These were unable to download iOS 10.3 update over the air and had to use iTunes instead. To recall, Apple's iOS 10.3 update brings Apple File System, Find My Airpods feature and Siri now answers queries related to cricket scores. Siri can also show live scores from upcoming Indian Premier League matches.
