Just days after unveiling the budget-friendly iPhone 16E, Apple has announced the release timeline for its upcoming software update, iOS 18.4. This update, set to arrive in April, will bring significant improvements, including the expansion of Apple Intelligence to more languages. Let’s take a closer look at what Apple has announced.
Through a blogpost, Apple revealed that Apple Intelligence, the company’s suite of AI features, will soon support new languages. These include French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and simplified Chinese. Additionally, localised English versions for users in Singapore and India will also be introduced.
These new language options will be available globally with iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4 in April. Developers can start testing these updates now.
For the first time, Apple Intelligence features will be available to iPhone and iPad users in the European Union (EU). Additionally, Apple Intelligence will be integrated into the Apple Vision Pro in US English. According to the tech giant, this will help users “communicate, collaborate, and express themselves in entirely new ways.”
Apple emphasises privacy in AI with Apple Intelligence. The system primarily runs on-device, ensuring that personal data stays secure. For more complex tasks requiring advanced AI models, Apple uses Private Cloud Compute, which extends iPhone-level security to cloud processing while keeping user data protected.
