Apple is reportedly working on its own large language model (LLM), feeling left out in the growing AI environment. People are calling it "Apple GPT". According to Bloomberg, the company has made the framework for creating LLMs, very much like the core technology behind generative AI tools like ChatGPT, Bard and Bing. Although it is unclear whether this LLM will come out in public or not. An announcement regarding Apple’s AI LLM could come next year.
The LLM framework aka "Ajax" is said to offer similar features as OpenAI's ChatGPT offers. It could answer your questions on various topics.
Ajax is reportedly built just like Google Jax which is Google's machine learning framework. Apple's current collaboration with Google for its cloud network makes this development reasonable. Additionally, Apple has its own technologies and also utilizes Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Apple has also recently been spotted for offering a job opening which requires "robust understanding of large language models and generative AI." This clearly reveals that Apple is cooking something using AI.
Reports suggest that Apple began developing the Ajax framework last year to streamline machine learning development across the company. The reports also reveal that the access of Apple’s chatbot is restricted even for internal use and requires a special approval.
Apple does not use the term ‘AI’ or related words much. But the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook has talked about LLM models saying “great promises”. However, Cook also highlighted the importance of responsible AI development, highlighting the need to train AI systems properly to avoid malfunction and misinformation.

How Apple is developing its AI chatbot is still a secret. Still, the company is reportedly using an enterprise version of OpenAI's technology for its employees.
As the AI game continues to grow everyday, Apple's efforts to develop its own LLM showcase the company's dedication to staying at the top in the field of artificial intelligence.
