Apple has sent out media invites for its annual WWDC developer conference. The company has confirmed that the keynote address will kick off on June 5 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California. The technical sessions, hands-on labs and other special events will also be held at the same venue from June 5 to June 9.
For the past few years, Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference has been held at Moscone Center in San Francisco, but this year it's moving to San Jose. The keynote is scheduled to start at 10AM PT (10.30PM IST) and will likely see new products announcements in the form of iOS 11 and previews of the new versions of macOS, watchOS and tvOS. Apple is also expected to introduce new developers tools in order to help developers make their apps ready for the next iterations of Apple's ecosystems.
Apple doesn't generally announce new hardware products at WWDC, but the Cupertino-based tech giant is widely anticipated to announce its own speaker (dubbed the Siri Speaker) to take on Amazon's Echo, Google Home and Microsoft Invoke connected speakers. Amazon, Apple, Google and Microsoft have shown interest in the connected home ecosystem and Apple already has HomeKit enabled accessories. Its Siri Speaker is expected to bring more product integrations and its digital assistant onto a standalone device. Apple is also reportedly working on next-generation iPad Pro devices, but it's not clear whether this product will be unveiled at WWDC this year.
