Sony's flagship tablet the Z2 has been launched in India for Rs. 49,990. The tablet is now listed on the company's official website and is available via online retailer Infibeam in Black color with an estimated shipping time of 5-6 business days.
The Sony Xperia Z2 was announced at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC), as the world's slimmest and lightest waterproof tablet. The tablet is the successor to the Sony Xperia Z launched last year. The Xperia Z2 has a 10.1-inch Full HD TRILUMINOS display with 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution. It has a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor and runs Android 4.4 (KitKat) out-of-the-box with Sony's custom UI on top. The tablet has a dust and water resistant design with a durable glass front display. It features digital noise cancellation technology and weighs 426 grams.
It has an 8 MP rear camera with Exmor R for mobile sensor and 2.2 MP 1080p front camera. The tablet has 3GB RAM and 16GB internal memory expandable with microSD card slot to 64 GB. Connectivity options included are 4G, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. It packs a 6000 mAh battery that Sony claims can deliver up to 10 hours of multimedia playback and 1200 hours of talk time on 3G. The Sony Xperia Z2 is available in Black and White color.
The tablet competes with the Apple iPad Air launched last year. The iPad Air has a 9.7-inch Retina display with 1536 x 2048 pixels resolution. The Apple iPad Air is available for Rs 38,000 in India for the 16 GB version.
