AMD reveals its CPU and GPU roadmaps

Updated on 11-Nov-2010

AMD has released its GPU and CPU roadmaps, and they sure are exciting…

The GPU roadmaps don’t reveal too much, except for confirmation of the models of the HD 6900 series, and that the Turks and Caicos lineups will be replacing the HD 4800 and HD 4700 series. The Q1 2011 timeline doesn’t necessarily mean anything, as the already released HD 6870 and HD 6850 are marked there too. Also seen are the next generation of Mobility Radeon, which still remain just codenames.

[RELATED_ARTICLE]As for the CPU roadmaps, we get to see that 2011 will see the arrival of the first 4-8 core Bulldozer chips, codenamed Zambezi, as well as the Stars Fusion APU codenamed Llano, and the Bobcat Fusion APU codenamed Ontario and Zacate. 2012 will see the arrival of the first Komodo Bulldozer CPGPUs, as well as Krishna and Trinity Fusion APUs. Notebook processors look to be exclusively Fusion APUs, though it’s not likely the Athlon, Turion, Sempron and Phenom brands will retire for the platform.
