Amazon has announced and asked its employees to come back to the office.

The new announcement requires Amazon employees to return to the office full-time starting January 2, 2025.

This change was announced by Amazon CEO Andy Jassy.

After Covid-19, hybrid working, and work from home became a popular concept. So much so that many are continuing with the same way of working and haven’t shifted to coming to the office completely. This includes major tech firms around the world. Now most are switching back to working from the office. Amazon is the latest one to join the list.

The e-commerce giant has announced and asked its employees to come back to the office. The new announcement requires Amazon employees to return to the office full-time starting January 2, 2025. Currently, Amazon is following a hybrid model, where employees only have to come to the office for three days a week. With this new move, employees will have to come to the office for all five days.

This change was announced by Amazon CEO Andy Jassy. He said that there is a need for in-person collaboration for innovation and a stronger workplace culture. And hence the decision to work completely from the office. Jassy believes that being physically present in the office allows for better learning, communication, and team cohesion. As per Andy, these things are essential for delivering top-tier results for both customers and the business.

Andy shared this news with his employees via a memo. In the memo, he again highlighted the need for brainstorming, mentoring, and strengthening company culture to happen more effectively when teams are together. He said, “Having the right culture at Amazon is something I don’t take for granted. We’ve observed that it’s easier for our teammates to learn, model, practice, and strengthen our culture.”

It is possible that the employees don’t take this decision well. Previously, they had even protested against the three-day office mandate at the company’s Seattle headquarters. Let’s see how things turn out. Are you in favour of working from home or not?
