AI is at the centre of Dell’s universe, from laptops to datacentre: Here’s how

We recently had the opportunity to participate in a virtual briefing hosted by Dell. During this briefing, Dell Technologies unveiled its vision for 2024 for the Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ) region, shedding light on key industry trends and the company’s role in the coming year. John Roese, Global Chief Technology Officer, underscored the evolving landscape, stating, “AI is the center of the universe, and edges are the way that you’ll put it into production.”

The journey of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is maturing from theoretical exploration to practical implementation. Roese highlighted the shift from broad experimentation to strategic focus. Moreover, Dell predicts the rise of the “Edge Platform” approach, positioning the modern edge as an extension of multi-cloud infrastructure. Peter Marrs, President, Asia Pacific & Japan, emphasized the centrality of data, stating, “As data continues to be at the center of our future, extracting value from it will be crucial in unlocking transformative business opportunities.”

Zero Trust infrastructure, set to be mandated across industries in 2024, takes center stage in securing the region’s digital future. Roese anticipates a tangible shift from conceptual discussions to real-world applications of Zero Trust: “As we move into 2024, we will move from a world where Zero Trust is a ‘buzzword’ to a world where real technology, real standards, and even certifications emerge.”

Addressing the quantum leap needed for AI’s computing demands, Roese envisioned a hybrid quantum system, spreading AI workload across diverse computing architectures. Meanwhile, Dell’s commitment to cybersecurity is solidified with the introduction of Fort Zero, slated for a 2024 release as the first commercial full Zero Trust private cloud system.

In the virtual briefing, Dell Technologies talked about these key insights for next year:

• Major AI implementation: Dell is going to focus on AI by implementing GenAI to different frameworks in the APJ region to achieve lasting positive outcomes. 
• Quantum Computing: Quantum Computing will be featured to fulfill the needs of GenAI. This will help in the overall performance and abilities of the AI system. 
• Modern Edge and Multicloud Strategy: The use of a flexible and distributed cloud platform will help in building and expanding a modern computing edge.
• Zero Trust Security: To handle the data wisely as AI and data move to new computing locations called “the edge”, Marrs talked about a new Zero Trust architecture, Fort Zero. 
• Ecosystem approach: Dell will also keep in mind the collaboration and interconnection between businesses, technologies, and communities.
