Adobe releases Photoshop Lightroom 3

Adobe has finally released Lightroom 3, a digital image management application which touts powerful non-destructive image editing and post-processing features. Like previous versions, Lightroom 3 went through public beta testing, and saw the release of multiple beta versions, the first release being back in October.
Among the new features in Lightroom 3 are:

  • Redesigned import feature
  • New publish features and SDK
    Images in your collection can be directly published to online services. Flickr support in integrated, and even pulls in comments made on your images into the Lightroom interface
  • Improved noise correction
  • Watermarking images
  • Profile-based lens correction
    Introduced in CS5, profile-based lens correction is capable of fixing distortions added by lenses based on profiles for common lenses.
  • Manual geometric lens correction
  • Support for importing and managing video files from DSLR cameras
  • Horizontal and vertical perspective correction
  • Improved Web templates for updated color and design options
  • Additional Print templates to utilize the new creative layout options
  • New develop presets for creative B&W and Color adjustments
  • Focal length filtering available in the metadata filter
  • Improved interactive responsiveness
  • Can upgrade Lightroom 1, Lightroom 2 catalogs, and Lightroom 3 beta , and beta 2 catalogs
  • Ability to migrate Photoshop Elements 6, 7 or 8 catalogs to Lightroom 3
  • Updated print resolution limits of 720ppi for local printing and 1200ppi for printing to a JPEG file.
