4 best stealth games for PS5

Updated on 17-Feb-2022

Stealth games test your patience as well as your understanding of the game. To make your way through an entire level without even being seen makes the player feel like a cool main protagonist, but it is no easy feat. You will need to memorise NPC patterns, how they behave when slightly alerted, and be quick on your feet because NPCs might just drop by to check on their fellow patrolmen. With a multitude of tools at your disposal, the possibilities are endless, but it is up to you to plan everything and ensure you don’t get caught. So, if you’re looking for a challenge or something that requires patience, thoughtful planning and improvisation, here are some of the best stealth games for the PS5.

Hitman 3

In this game, you take on the role of Agent 47, the world’s deadliest assassin. The player is tasked with taking out internationally high ranking officials. This is no easy feat, and the player must resort to the shadows or use disguises and never be revealed. The game gives you ample resources to play around with, including a selection of suppressed pistols, fibre wire, distraction tools, and advanced takedowns on enemies. It is a thrilling experience that requires you to think about the best possible way in and out. Incidentally, the levels are masterfully crafted to offer multiple ways to tackle situations.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut

Inspired by old school Samurai films of yore, Ghost of Tsushima captures the essence of a 12th-century Japanese island. It is under the threat of Mogol forces led by the fearsome Ghengis Khan’s grandson, and the player is one of the last few samurais left to hold forces at bay. One man cannot take on many, and the Samurai resorts to ghostly techniques, abandoning his oath in an effort to save the island. The stealth has you jumping on rooftops, surveying areas, deceiving the enemy and striking from the back. You can inflict fear on enemies, which makes stealth a viable payoff. You can also face the enemy from the front- the variety is present.

Deathloop

Break out of a nightmarish time loop by taking out Visionaries who aim to live forever. This will take patience and time, which is ideal, as every time you die, you respawn and start from the beginning, giving you ample knowledge to take things on effectively the next time. There are also tools that enhance mobility, sneaking around, and taking out enemies quickly. There are suppressed weapons and those that reveal your position. You can either take enemies head-on from there or zip past them to get out of sight. The gunplay feels punchy and responsive, which enhances the gameplay experience. The story follows a twisted narrative.

Little Nightmares 2

A puzzle platformer, it takes on stealth differently. It has a dark and eerie environment, with spooks and scares all around. The enemies are unsettling to say the least, and there is no way to “take them on”. Your best bet is to run away or sneak past them. The game mostly has you walking around, figuring out ways to get out of areas, making for high-stakes stealth. The plot is interesting and incorporates heavy themes, making for a nice story experience as well.
