It looks like WB Games might be all set to reveal their third instalment to the popular superhero fighting game – Injustice 3, pretty soon. The speculation arises from a new piece of art on Twitter from popular Australian digital artist, Nikolai Baslajik, better known online as BossLogic. The game will likely be revealed on 22 August 2020 at DC Fandome, which is a 24-hour long virtual convention showcasing everything DC Comics related, including upcoming movies, games, shows and much more.

The poster-style artwork features the text “INJUSTiC3” in white along with a bunch of easter eggs, which all seems to incline towards the involvement of characters from DC Comics’ the Watchmen. The background of the image showcases a giant vintage clock, which looks quite similar to the Doomsday Clock from the original graphic novel. On the left-hand side, if you look closely, you will notice the iconic, blood-stained smiley face badge worn by Edward Blake aka The Comedian. The most blatant clue of them all lies in the name itself. The tittle or the dot, on top of the letter “i” seems to have been replaced by the atomic structure for Hydrogen. Which conveniently happens to be the glaring symbol seen on Dr. Manhattan’s azure forehead.
It has not been confirmed as to whether this artwork reveal is part of a marketing strategy for the game. But the speculations seem credible nonetheless since BossLogic has been known for doing lots of official artwork for popular games, including the key art for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. To top that off, the timing seems all the more convenient as the teaser lines up with the upcoming DC Fandome event. In the same tweet, BossLogic has also tagged Ed Boon, co-creator of the Mortal Kombat and Injustice franchise of games, who surprisingly happens to be a panellist at the convention. With the release of Mortal Kombat 11’s latest add-on – Aftermath out of the way, it only seems likely that his appearance at DC Fandome is linked to Injustice 3.
Based on the comic book series of the same name, the Injustice game franchise follows the story of the iconic DC superheroes in a dark and gritty alternate universe. One where Superman happens to have turned into a mad tyrant, following the death of his beloved Lois Lane at the hands of the Clown Prince of Crime. The game features a 2.5D sideways combat system akin to the Mortal Kombat franchise and an online multiplayer mode with tons of upgradeable options for your choice of character.
As of now, neither Ed Boon nor WB Games have commented on any of the speculations. Judging from the fact that DC Fandome is only about 10 days away, it is safe to assume that any further update on the matter will be handled then and there. In other news, Rocksteady recently confirmed that they were ready to reveal a Suicide Squad game on the same day, of which you can check out details here.
