The developers of PUBG have announced that the new Vikendi snow map is making its way to the console versions of the game. The map will be available on live servers from January 22 onwards. This means that Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players will finally get to battle it out on the frozen waste in search for that elusive chicken dinner. To recall, the new Vikendi map was made available to PC and mobile players back in December.
The Vikendi map is a snow covered island and brings with its own strategic and tactical challenges. “With only a third of the island untouched by snow, Vikendi is a tracker’s paradise. Fresh footprints across a sea of snow leave no question as to who has been there before. But while open fields and forests are abundant, there are also dozens of small villages dotting the entirety of the island,” the developers note on their page.
Vikendi is the fourth map option that will be available to players after the Eastern European forests of Erangel, the desert of Miramar, and the lush tropical vegetation of Sanhok. The new Vikendi map also comes with its own unique vehicle, the snowmobile, which offers better control on snow and ice, but doesn’t perform as well on other terrain.
While the Xbox version of PUBG has been available for over a year now, the PlayStation version of the game was launched just last month. The developers of PUBG also partnered with PlayStation and Naughty Dog to bring elements of Uncharted and The Last of Us to PUBG. All PlayStation players that pre-ordered the game will get a Nathan Drake outfit as well as Ellie’s backpack.
