Space exploration MMO Star Citizen has bagged in $15 million through crowdfunding on its official website. With such landmark funding achievement, players will now come across an escort carrier ship, and all backers will get a 42-page digital upgrade manual that gives information regarding ship customization and overclocking process.
The crowdfunding initiative has raised an average of $36.249 per day in the last five days, according to Roberts Space Industries representatives, which is enough to build five separate ships for Star Citizen.
Chris Roberts, who initiated the Wing Commander series, raised over $6 million for Star Citizen in November 2012 on Kickstarter. The developer had a new funding goal on the website – if the project is able to raise $17 million, Star Citizens will get a new battlecruiser ship class and backers would get a ship upgrade package that includes an engine modifier.
The game is slated for a launch in 2014 and an interactive hangar module is expected this month.
