Sony said, "PS5 Pro will not be available in some countries, which presently includes India.

Because the 6GHz wireless band used in IEEE 802.11be (Wi-Fi 7) has not yet been allowed in India yet.

Wi-Fi 7 allows for smoother streaming, faster downloads, and seamless online gaming, which is important for PS5 Pro.

Fans had been eagerly waiting for the launch of PlayStation 5 Pro (PS5 Pro), and were pretty excited when it was launched globally yesterday. But sadly that excitement was pretty short lived. Sony has now officially confirmed that the upcoming PS5 Pro will not launch in India. The primary reason behind this is that the gaming console requires a 6GHz wireless band under IEEE 802.11be (Wi-Fi 7). Currently, this frequency is restricted in India and hence Sony won’t be able to launch the console in India.

In a statement to Financial Express, Sony said, “PS5 Pro will not be available in some countries (which presently includes India) where the 6GHz wireless band used in IEEE 802.11be (Wi-Fi 7) has not yet been allowed.” So for now, PlayStation 5 Pro is not coming to the Indian markets.

Why is Wi-Fi 7 important for PS5 Pro?

Wi-Fi 7 is the latest standard and offers ultra-high speeds and low latency. This allows for smoother streaming, faster downloads, and seamless online gaming, which is important for a console like the PS5 Pro.

As devices such as the PS5 Pro are integrating higher bandwidth connectivity, Wi-Fi 7 becomes important. Many regions have already approved the 6GHz band required for Wi-Fi 7, but Indian regulators are yet to allow the frequency for commercial use.
