Sony has launched its PlayStation 2 EyeToy Bundle in India, at a special introductory price of Rs. 5,990. It includes a PS2 console, one controller, one EyeToy camera, and one EyeToy title – Play 3.
The PlayStation 2 has been largest selling console in India, and Sony says it is aiming to enhance the gaming experience with motion-based gaming, and provide home entertainment for the entire family.
The Sony EyeToy enables real-time movement tracking for the PS2, letting players use motion to control the action. The PS3 of course, has the Move, with its own, Eye camera.
EyeToy: Play 3 features Volleyball, Bowling, Touchdown, DJ, Be the Band, Maestro, Beauty Salon, Ghost Grab, Boot Camp, Monkey Rampage, Kitty Loves Me, and Athletics.
Four other EyeToy titles, meant for 8-12 year olds, have also been released in the market – EyeToy: Astro Zoo, EyeToy: Play Sports, EyeToy: Play and EyeToy: Play 2 – all at a special price of Rs. 499.
Mr. Atindriya Bose, Country Manager – Sony PlayStation India, spoke on the launch, saying:
“With the popularity of family-centric motion games in India, the summer holiday season is the best time to introduce EyeToy camera based games on the entry level home console, PS2. We are confident that PS2 bundle with EyeToy game will increase the speed of adoption of gaming with Indian families. The launch is further augmented by the introduction of a series of four separate sports and adventure based EyeToy titles.”
