Skyesports Championship 2024: 3DMAX win the Skyesports Championship 2024

Skyesports Championship 2024: 3DMAX win the Skyesports Championship 2024

The playoffs of the Skyesports Championship 2024, were one of the biggest highlights of the tournament. From 2-0 sweeps to close encounters and upsets, they had it all. While six teams came in, hoping to win the trophy, it was 3DMAX that had the last laugh and took home the trophy for the Skyesports Championship 2024. Here’s how the action unfolded –

Quarter-final exits for ENCE and AMKAL

ENCE and AMKAL had just managed to scrape through to the playoffs in their respective groups. For both the teams, the ride into the playoffs had been a shaky one. ENCE had played five games, won three, and lost two. AMKAL, had played four games and came in with a pretty even scoreline of two wins and two losses each.

The lack of confidence and consistency showed in its truest form when these teams took to the stage on Saturday. The MongolZ took home a 2-0 win over AMKAL. It was a straight washout of AMKAL by the hands of the Mongolian super squad that had put on an insane display of top-tier CS at the tournament. ENCE fumbled their series against 3DMAX 2-0. The first signs of 3DMAX’s CS prowess had already started to shine through when the series started. ENCE were playing the catchup game through the duration of the Bo3 series. Their lose grip on the playstyle of 3DMAX, got worse as the Bo3 series progressed.

At the end of the day, we had our remaining two semi-finalists, 3DMAX and The MongolZ.

Semi-finals and Finals repeat the same story at the Skyesports Championship 2024

In the first semi-finals of the Skyesports Championship 2024, The MongolZ pipped the tournament hopefuls Eternal Fire 2-0, with Eternal Fire struggling to get the ball rolling from the first map of the series. The MongolZ were, hence, the first finalists of the tournament. The second match of the semis was the only one in the playoffs that saw the third map being played.

When Aurora took on 3DMAX, the first map was a straight whitewash for 3DMAX as they secured a 13-9 win on Inferno. On the second map, Nuke, Aurora found its footing and defeated 3DMAX 13-10, taking the first and what would be the only series of the playoffs to the third map, Anubis. Aurora put on a great fight, but in the end, it was 3DMAX that secured the map, after a string second half, as they walked home with a 13-11 win and a spot in the finals of the Skyesports Championship 2024.

3DMAX become the champions of Skyesports Championship 2024

Come to the finals, we were expecting to have a closer game. However, The MongolZ stood no chance against 3DMAX, which was in piping hot form. The first map of the series was Anubis, which 3DMAX won 13-4, crushing the hopes of The MongolZ, and they doubled down in the second map, Ancient, as they walked home with the map win, which brought along the title of the Champions of Skyesports Championship 2024 and $120,000 in prize money.
