Rumours Regarding Potential Daredevil Game Under Development Shut-Down

Rumours regarding a possible Daredevil game under development has been shut down. The rumours emerged from a Twitter exchange between Troy Baker, popular voice actor for games such as The Last of Us and Bill Rosemann, Vice President at Marvel Games.

The conversation started with Jonathan Dornbush, host of Podcast Beyond asking his followers, "What is your dream superhero game and which developer would you want to make it?". To this, Troy Baker responded by tagging the Vice President of Marvel Games. Now, all of this still sounds pretty normal. But what instigated the Daredevil rumour is the reply from Bill Rosemann saying, "You, sir, are clearly a man without fear." The phrase "Man Without Fear" is an alias of the Marvel superhero from Hell's Kitchen, Daredevil. The alias comes from a 1993 five-issue comic book miniseries by Frank Miller under the name, Daredevil: The Man Without Fear.

As soon as this interaction occurred, everyone started assuming that there was probably a Daredevil Game under development. This possibility was further solidified by a post on 4chan a few weeks ago, where the user claimed that Marvel was allegedly working on a single-player, story-driven Daredevil title that was set to release on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC in late 2021 or 2022. The post also went on to state that the game would be an open-world noir-style detective game set in modern-day Chicago.

Neither Troy Baker nor Bill Rosemann had added anything to the tweet thread later on by approving or discrediting any of the rumours. About 17 hours later, Bill Rosemann tweeted out a picture of his Daredevil comic collection, shutting down rumours stating that there was no Daredevil game under development. But rather, his reply to Troy Baker was just an acknowledgement about the shared desire they have for creating a game based on the said character.

Despite the over-hyped rumours, the idea of a noir-style Daredevil detective game actually does sound pretty cool. Especially after seeing what Marvel Games have achieved with their Spider-Man game for PlayStation 4. Although there is no Daredevil game under development right now, there is still a possibility that we could see it sometime in the near future based on Bill Rosemann's statement. Hopefully with Troy Baker voicing the Devil from Hell's Kitchen.
