Put the pedal to the metal with these driving games on the Xbox One

If you love cars, then you’ll love racing games. These games put you behind the wheels of a fast car, with no speed limits to slow you down. Add to this mix a pumping soundtrack, gorgeous visuals and gripping (pun not intended) gameplay, and you’ve got yourself a high-octane experience. Here’s a look at some racing games for the Xbox One that is available on Amazon.

Forza Horizon 4

Forza Horizon 4 is developed by Playground Games and is set in a fictionalised version of Great Britain, with bits of Edinburgh, Lake District and Cotswolds included. Apart from retaining everything that made its predecessor, Forza Horizon 3 a great game. This time around, players get to different seasons which change periodically, while adding new gameplay changes to the mix. What might be a pristine stretch of road in the summer; might become a treacherous snow-coved strip in winter. Of course, you still get a dose of Forza zaniness with special events that see you race against trains, hovercrafts and bombers and more. It features over 450 licensed cars and comes with a feature called route creator that lets you create your own races. You can buy in-game houses that unlock several perks and even new cars at times, making the storyline even more interesting. To create an even more immersive experience, the environment comes with a dynamic range of terrains and altitudes, letting you race on tracks and roads under different weather conditions.

Need for Speed Heat

Coming from the popular Need For Speed (NFS) franchise, NFS Heat is one of the latest renditions of the game series. The game is set in the fictional Palm City, where you get to race with the best racers in the world. The gameplay switches between day and night, which different objectives. During the day, you can be part of the sanctioned races, which earn you money. With your earnings, you can buy cars and different upgrades. During the night, you participate in illegal street races for reputation points that come in handy later on when you’re trying to improve your Heat Level. However, racing at night isn’t easy as the police are ready to put a stop to the races.

Burnout Paradise – Remastered

If you are into racing games that let you enjoy stunts like burnouts and drifts to their fullest extent during races, then the remastered version of Burnout Paradise might be just what the doctor ordered. You are taken into the fictional world of Paradise City where you get to race through different courses and gaming modes. Unlike most other racing games, Burnout does not plonk you into a pre-set course or track. It tells you where the finishing line is, and it’s up to you to figure out the fastest way to get there. One of the coolest features of the game is its damage physics in which the game slows downs a split second before a crash, to show the body of the car as it crumples and deforms.

Crash Team Racing – Nitro Fueled

Mario Kart is consistently considered to be one of the best kart racing games ever. However, that game series is exclusive to Nintendo’s consoles. If you’re looking for something similar for the Xbox One, then you should consider Crash Team Racing – Nitro Fueled. As with any kart racing game, you race around collecting power-ups. These could either give you speed boosts or equip you with an assortment of offensive and defensive weapons.
