PSP2 Specs Leaked? [rumour]
We may soon welcome a new generation of portable consoles. Coming fresh off the details of the PSP Go, are rumors of the PSP2 specification, and mouthwatering they are! So what might the PSP2 bring? How about as more graphic power than the first XBOX?
The graphics on the PSP2 will be powered by a a multicore version of the SGX543 PowerVR processor by Imagination Technologies, also a provider of graphic chips for the new iPhone 3GS. The four-core monster GPU would be capable of 133 million polygons per second which is higher than the original XBOX. What’s more the PSP2 will come with full openGL 2.0 and apparently even DirectX 10 support!
The PowerVR processor to be used in the PSP2 a unique technology called tile-based Deferred Rendering (TBDR) which allows for more efficient rendering performance by eliminating the processing required for rendering objects that aren’t visible in the final scene.
All this makes for an hand-held gaming experience like never before, one that surpasses what we we accustomed to just a few years ago. Until it is confirmed by Sony though, this is just a rumor to whet your appetite. Even if the source is to be believed, with the PSP Go only recently unveiled, it is doubtful that this revolution would come anytime soon.
