For all those gnashing their teeth over the download-only, UMD-less PSP GO — there is some good news. Rumours have it that a revision of the PSP 3000 is in the works at Sony, the PSP 4000. The rumour does make sense since the PSP GO is kinda like Sony’s “third pillar” in that it is not meant to replace the current PSP 3000/2000/1000 models but act as an alternative for suckers with too much money and too little sense people who prefer smaller form factors and digital content. The PSP 4000 should be expected to fix the interlacing screen issue that plagues the PSP 3000; and of course it will still have a UMD drive.
How reliable is this rumour, you ask? Well, the source of this rumour had leaked details on the PS3 Slim, specifically that the Slim won’t support Linux OS and touch controls being dropped for push buttons in the Slim. Plus, these days, what rumour isn’t true? Especially when it comes to Sony’s and Microsoft’s consoles…
