Konami has officially announced that the next installment of Pro Evolution Soccer will not feature on the next-gen consoles, however they have promised that they are developing a higher resolution version of the game for next gen consoles

Konami has confirmed that their wildly popular football simulation Pro Evolution Soccer 2014(PES) will not be launched on next generation consoles. The latest edition due for launch later this year, will be launched on all platforms except for next gen consoles – Microsoft’s Xbox One and Sony’s PlayStation 4.

However, Seabass and company has promised that the versions for these platforms will be launched later as developers at Konami are working on developing a higher-resolution version of the game on its existing engine.

One of the developers working on the game, Adam Bhatti has confirmed on Twitter that PES 2014 will be launched on current-gen consoles like the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. “The fact we’re not on PS4/Xbone with PES 2014 is simple,” Bhatti said on Twitter. “In the past, people accused us of being lazy. We’re adamant of not making the same mistakes, and making sure we create amazing football games. It’s hardly amazing making the next-gen version prettier. We shouldn’t have that mentality, and you shouldn’t expect that. Aim higher.” He explained.

Just like its rival franchise FIFA by EA Sports, PES also receives updates annually. While EA has the upper hand when it comes to licenses for teams and players, PES has the edge in terms of superior gameplay and improved graphics for the past few years.

Meanwhile, EA has officially confirmed that FIFA 14 will be featured on the next-gen consoles when launched in September.
