Sony will begin preorders of its 30th anniversary PS5 consoles starting September 26.
I still remember my first gaming console, and yes, it was a PlayStation 1. Yes, the same gaming console that launched 30 years ago. Although I am not that old, but still, all those games; Tekken 3, Spider-Man, Meta Geal, it was some era. And now we have come so far that Sony has unveiled the PS5 and PS5 Pro with a makeover. This makeover is to honor 30 years of PlayStation 1 by launching two new editions of the PlayStation 5 and the PlayStation 5 Pro.
Now, what’s new about it?
PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro 30th Anniversary Edition
PlayStation announced this in a video and blog post. This whole package comes with OG PlayStation 1 colours, offering the console in dual-toned, white, and grey colours with a colourful PlayStation logo.
Sony will bring the new PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro 30th Anniversary Collection. This is a digital 1TB PS console, which includes a Console cover, Vertical stand, Matching DualSense controller, Four PlayStation Shapes cable ties, PlayStation sticker, Old PlayStation-style controller cable connector, a Limited edition PlayStation poster (one of the unique 30 designs), and a PlayStation Paperclip.
With the PS5 Pro bundle, you get a 2TB PS5 Pro instead of the digital edition. A fun fact about this new PS5 Pro bundle is that Sony has made only 12,300 30th anniversary edition consoles. Every PS5 Pro 30th Edition will have its unit number written on the side of the console. Now why I am calling it a fun fact is that 12,300 is basically an easter egg of PS1’s anniversary date. It was launched on December 3 (12/3).
If you’re not looking to grab the whole bundle, you can also pick up the 30th Anniversary DualSense, DualSense Edge, and PlayStation Portal separately.
When can you buy it?
Sony will begin preorders of its 30th anniversary PS5 consoles starting September 26, 2024. If you have a PlayStation Network account, you can participate in the preorder process, as per the PlayStation Blog. As for the pricing, Sony hasn’t disclosed this yet, which means the brand is going to ask for some extra money on this. And, to be honest, enthusiasts should not have a problem with that.
