Nvidia’s new Fermi GPU – the GeForce GTX 465 – unveiled ahead of June launch [specs]

Ahead of the expected launch at Computex, specifications of Nvidia’s mid-end Fermi-based GPU, the GeForce GTX 465, have been leaked. Offering the same graphics and processor clock speeds of the GeForce GTX 470 (607MHz and 1.2GHz respectively), the GTX 465 will have a 256-bit memory interface, a 3.2 GHz memory clock, 1GB GDDR5 RAM, and 352 CUDA cores (as compared to 448 on the GTX 470).

Speculation is also rife of a smaller Fermi in the offing, called the GTX 460, which is said to feature 768MB of GDDR5 RAM. More information is yet to be revealed.

Some early benchmarks of the GTX 465 reveal that it had an edge over the the Radeon HD 5870 in Far Cry 2, but was slower than the Radeon HD 5830 in Crysis Warhead. The 3DMark Vantage synthetic benchmark (at extreme settings) gave the GTX 465 a score of 5488, which makes it about 20 per cent less poweful than its bigger brother, the GTX 470. One thing is for sure, Nvidia is going to have a hard time competing with the wide range of market segments that ATI already caters to with its DX 11 lineup.

In the meanwhile, you can feast your eyes on on the comparitive specifications of the GTX 465, 470, and 480:
