The newest installation in the Battlefield franchise – Battlefield 2042 will neither have a campaign (story) mode nor a Battle Royale mode. Insteald, the game will solely focus on multiplayer mode which will house 128 players for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X versions of the game and will house only 64 players for PS4 and Xbox One version of the game. Players will also be given an option to either play against AI bots or solo or with their friends in a squad.

The game has already been announced and a trailer for the same is also released by EA.

In a recent interview with Eurogamer, when asked about the lack of single-player mode in Battlefield 2042, the design director Daniel Berlin had this to say – “If you look at the DNA of the studio, what we've been doing for so long, we just said you know what, we're not going to have a traditional single-player campaign this time around, but we're going to put all that emphasis and all those resources into building depth into the multiplayer. Because that is what we do best.”

Battlefield 2042 is going to be the last installment in the Battlefield franchise. It is set in the post apocalyptic future where a humanitarian crisis is brought about by climate change, with nomadic refugees known as the Non – Patriated or No-Pats take up arms as the US and Russia engage in an all out war, with maps covering all the different parts of the world. Battlefield 2042 is set to release on 22nd October this year.
