Nintendo has officially announced the much-anticipated details about the Nintendo Switch 2. It will be released in the first week of June and will debut several hardware and software upgrades including a bigger display, improved controls, enhanced audio, and 4K compatibility in the TV model. The Japanese game maker has also announced the lineup of Switch 2-exclusive games, upgraded versions of existing titles, and a new Mario Kart World game. Here’s everything that we know about the upcoming gaming console.
Nintendo Switch 2: Features and Upgrades
The Switch 2 will get a bigger 7.2-inch LCD display with HDR support. The console will be thinner and more compact compared to its predecessor. It will also get bigger left and right sticks and will support mouse-like functionality in select games. The company has also announced a new C-Button which will enable Discord-like instant voice chat while gaming.
The device comes with built-in 3D sound and mic for voice chat and multiplayer experience. The console will offer more storage, two USB-C ports, and supports microSD Express cards. The dock allows games to be played in 4K with HDR support, with a built-in cooling fan to maintain performance.
Game Lineup for Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo has confirmed that Nintendo Switch Online will continue to work on the new console, bringing a library of classic titles, including GameCube games like Wind Waker.
First-Party Switch 2 Games
Super Mario Party Jamboree, Zelda: Breath of the Wild & Tears of the Kingdom (Enhanced Editions), Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Metroid Prime Beyond, Mario Kart World (launching exclusively on Switch 2, with more details coming in an April 17 Nintendo Direct). The WWE 2K and NBA 2K will also be available on Switch 2.
Third-Party Games Confirmed for Switch 2
Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, Hades 2, Street Fighter 6, Hogwarts Legacy, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Hitman World of Assassination, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, Project 007 and Yakuza Zero.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch on June 5, 2025, with pre-orders expected to begin soon. The official pricing is yet to be announced, but more details will be revealed in the upcoming Nintendo Direct on April 17, 2025. Nintendo is also launching a Switch 2 Pro Controller with an improved grip and enhanced haptic feedback.
