Mortal Kombat has been at the forefront of fighting games for just about 30 long years. During that time, we have seen the game shift from a 2-D plane to a 3-D one and back to the good two-dimensional fighting arena. The first MK was released way back in 1993 and would go on to define a generation of gamers who grew up with the title. Surprisingly, the franchise is still going strong albeit with a few dumb hiccups along the way. According to reports, an insider has revealed that we could be getting more news about the 12th instalment of the game sometime in May.
According to gaming insider Jez Cortez, we could all find out more about the game sometime next month. What this means is not entirely known but if the past is anything to go by, we should get a bit of gameplay and a few character reveals. This information comes from a reply to a tweet that was posted by fighting game YouTuber Maximillian Dood. Do take this news with a grain of salt as the company has not made any formal announcements regarding the game yet.

But with the Summer Games Fest just around the corner, we could expect to see a bit more about the game.
It’s been an insane year for gamers in 2023 and if MK 12 launches this year, it’ll be tough to beat 2023 in terms of the sheer quality of games. In fact, there’s a lot to be excited about as on May 12, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be hitting store shelves. We’ve already had stellar games like the RE4 Remake, and the announcement of the new Elden Ring DLC and it’s only April.
What do you guys think of a new MK game being revealed soon?
