Microsoft Xbox 720 to be unveiled on May 21: Reports
HIGHLIGHTS

Established tech blogger Paul Thurrot has revealed that Microsoft's Xbox 720 is expected to be unveiled on May 21, and hit store shelves in November 2013 in two models.

The latest round of rumours suggests that the next generation Xbox, the Xbox 720 will be unveiled to the public on May 21 and will launch in November. The console is expected to launch with two variants. $500 for the normal model, and a $300 for subscription-based model.

Rumours on the Internet also suggest that the console will require a constant Internet connection for a user to play the games. It is also rumoured that all the games will need to be installed on the system and the Xbox 720 will sport a Blu-ray drive.

Last year it was speculated that there would be two versions of the Xbox 720. One targeted at gamers and the other as a media hub for your living room. New information suggests that the media hub idea has taken a back seat and the console will primarily be a gaming machine. The Xbox 360 is currently primarily a gaming machine and you do have access to Netflix and other media content making it a central multimedia hub along with a gaming console. It seems the same theme will be carried forward to the Xbox 720.

Hopefully the reveal on May 21, if true, will be a bit more than what Sony cared to show when they unveiled the PS4. All we got to see was a controller and some features and game demos. The good thing is that Sony said that all the PS4 games can be streamed on the PS Vita, Sony’s hand held gaming machine.
