Lenovo and Razer join hands for a new range of Gaming PCs
The new line of gaming PCs developed jointly by Lenovo and Razer will be coming out next year during CES 2016
PC giant Lenovo and gaming peripheral expert Razer have come together to make a new lineup of desktop towers for gamers. While the new lineup of desktop PCs has been announced, the products will be launched later next year, at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2016. The new PC lineup is based on Lenovo’s Y series of gaming towers which were announced earlier this year at CES 2015.
There is a change in the colour accents from Lenovo’s red to Razer’s green and chroma colour lighting under the case. The partnership hasn't announced any hardware specifications under the hood but the design is very similar to the one we saw on the Y series PCs. If nothing has changed on the inside, the new gaming PC lineup should have a similar spec sheet as on the Y700 and Y900. It could be powered by the latest 6th gen Core i7 K-series processors, along with support for 32GB or 64GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 225GB SSDs to 2TB HDDS. Graphic options could remain between GTX 970 and GTX 980 from Nvidia.
“We are thrilled to partner with Razer and bring out the best from both companies to deliver a better, more immersive gaming experience for customers. While we bring to the table our engineering expertise, design muscle and scale, Razer adds in the finesse and experience of serving the gaming community for the last decade. We believe our partnership is a strong first step that will lead to the delivery of winning PC gaming solutions and a brand new experience to our customers.” said Victor Rios, vice president and general manager, Workstation BU, Gaming and Industry Solutions, Lenovo.
Lenovo also said that gaming is one of the areas which is growing steadily. Like Lenovo, all other major manufacturers are betting big in the gaming industry as it has a bigger margin. However, this new partnership goes beyond marketing, and we can foresee Razer's gaming software like Razer Synapse, Comms and Cortex making their way into Lenovo PCs in the future. Out of this deal, Razer will be able to reach out to a larger customer base, and will help the company increase its gaming community by a significant margin.
The collaboration has just started between the two companies and will extend further as both companies have plans to explore multiple new designs. Lenovo also confirms that they are looking to develop new product lines as well as look into cross-channel opportunities.
