India Gaming Carnival kicks off tomorrow, at Noida
The India Gaming Carnival kicks off tomorrow at Greater Noida, near Delhi and it promises to be a first of a kind event, with the largest prize money pool, Rs. 1.5 crore or $300,000, of any gaming tournament in India so far. Organised by WTF Eventz at Ayatti Resort, the India Gaming Carnival also includes mobile gaming competitions, with Fruit Ninja and Angry Birds players also standing a chance to win big prizes.
The large cash prizes have served as a draw for major international teams, and many illustrious professional gamers have reportedly confirming their presence. So far, 20,000 people have registered for the events, which also include physical games – 8 ball pool, and snooker. Registration is also open at the venue, from 10 AM to 5PM, from 6th to 8th April.
Expecting a capacity crowd of roughly 300,000 visitors and participants, and with the overwhelming response for pre-registration, organizers WTF Events is considering making the event run nearly continuously, as a 24 hour LAN party, to manage the number of entrants and tournament tables. Game fees are as low Rs. 150, for casual games.
Also charging a venue entry fee of Rs. 500 per day, or Rs. 1,000 for the three days, players and attendees will have access to the daily after party, with popular indi-pop stars like Honey Singh being called. A surprise band, due to pay on the final day, will be revealed later.
