HCL launches ‘Converged Handheld Gaming Consoles’, starting from Rs. 3,799

HCL Infosystems, considered to be one of the country’s top hardware manufacturers and distributors, has introduced its Converged Handheld Gaming Consoles concept today, with the launch of the HCL ME X15 and Z15 devices. While HCL had previously shown off an inexpensive educational game console for children earlier, these latest consoles cater to the age group of 10-15 years, and along with 15 in-built ‘brain-train’ games, will also offer “imaging, music and TV recording” capabilities. Expandable memory of 4 to 6GB comes in the form of microSD cards.

To connect its consoles to the masses, HCL has decided to use a new face as a brand ambassador, named Alien. Described as a “macho and rebellious person from space”, Alien’s goal is to rule the world with his strength of body and mind. While rebel behaviour is probably not something they’d want in to inculcate in already unmanageable adolescents, we’re sure HCL its heart in the right place.

Mr. George Paul, the Executive Vice President of HCL Infosystems, commented on the launch of the product, saying: “The world is rapidly transforming into competitive environment with the advent of advanced technology, hence the integration of technologies into a single device will hold the key for today’s interactivity. We believe that convergence can bring the best interactivity and therefore, we are on a mission to introduce the kids to a whole new world of interactive education and entertainment. “

With these new devices, HCL has certainly tried to maintain the low costs, pricing the consoles at Rs. 3,799 and Rs. 4,990 respectively. The products are built on “green technology”, and are 100% recyclable with ROHS and CE compliance. Check out their specifications below:
