Google Stadia App appears on Play Store ahead of launch
Google Stadia is launching in 14 countries on November 18
India isn’t one of them.
The service will launch with more than 30 games.
Google’s game streaming service, Stadia is launching in a few days and the app has already made its way to the Play Store. If you are rocking a compatible Pixel Device (Pixel 2 family, Pixel 3 family, Pixel 3a family and Pixel 4) or a tablet running on Chrome OS, then you should see the app in the Play Store. If you are in one of the 14 launch countries, you should be able to download the app to your device. To reiterate, the launch countries include the United States, Canada, UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland. Once the app is downloaded, you will have to sign in with a Google account, and then enter the code from the Stadia Founders or Premiere Edition package.
The Play Store description for the app reads, “You can play games on televisions with the Stadia Controller and Google Chromecast Ultra. You can also play games on Stadia across laptops and desktops. At launch, Stadia supports Chrome OS tablets including Pixel Slate, Acer Chromebook Tab 10, and HP Chromebook X2, and Pixel 2, Pixel 3, Pixel 3a, and Pixel 4 family phones. To play Stadia, you’ll also need a code that will be provided to you with a qualified purchase, such as Stadia Founder’s Edition or Stadia Premiere Edition”.
Being a game streaming service, there is no need for a user to have hardware like a gaming PC or a console. But if you are getting into the Stadia ecosystem, know that to access it on November 19, you will need to be a Founders or Premiere Edition owner. Also, there is a $10 monthly fee that gives you access to games in 4K, 60FPS and HDR with 5.1 sound. If you are ok with 1080p gaming, then know that the free version of Stadia is launching in 2020.
Another important thing to note is that the Stadia controller will be able to work wirelessly with the Chromecast Ultra at launch. To play games on your smartphone or a PC using the Stadia controller, you will need to connect it via the USB cable.
