The Goan CM quoted a circular issued by the Director of Education

The circular asks for awareness to be created so that students will not download TikTok or PUBG

It adds that this “may be of great help in saving some lives”

It looks like the controversy around PUBG and TikTok just refuses to die. According to multiple reports, the Goan government has taken steps to discourage the use of the popular apps among students. In response to a question from Congress MLA, Ravi Naik, the state’s Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant quoted a circular issued by the Director of Education, Nagaraj Nonnekeri. The circular was issued back in June and was addressed to the heads of schools in the state.

“… awareness needs to be created among the parents, guardians and children in order not to download or use ‘Tik Tok app’ or ‘Pub G game. Both the above apps and games creates the issue of safety and security of the children of the state of Goa.” the circular notes. The circular also directs the heads of schools to create awareness among children as well as parents, and later adds that this “may be of great help in saving some lives.”

This isn’t the first time politicians from the state of Goa have expressed their issues regarding the game. Back in February, it was reported that Rohan Khaunte, the IT Minister of Goa called the game a “demon” in every house. Khaunte reportedly said that there needs to be a law to make sure that PUBG is placed under a restriction in Goa. He also implored that the then CM of Goa, Manohar Parrikar, should take a call on such a ban. The government official reportedly said this on the sidelines of a government event in Porvorim.  “I am not aware of states banning PUBG but some law has to be made to ensure there is a restriction on it in Goa,” Khaunte told PTI. “PUBG has become a demon in every house. Students, instead of studying, are engrossed in playing PUBG.”
