If you’re a Ghost of Tsushima fan then this one’s for you. Sucker Punch Productions, which is the brains behind the game, has announced a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima. The upcoming game will be titled Ghost of Yotei. What does this game pack, and what will we get to see? So the Ghost of Yotei will be released exclusively on PlayStation 5 in 2025. With the game, you will get to see a newer storyline with a new protagonist, Atsu, and an entirely new era and landscape. It is set in 1603 at the base of Mount Yotei modern-day Hokkaido, Japan. Ghost of Yōtei* takes place 300 years after the original game’s events. It is set during the Mongol invasion.
With this game, you will follow the time period when Ezo was not yet under Japanese rule. Players will have to deal with a world characterised by vast grasslands, snowy forests, and sun-drenched ridges adorned with wildflowers.
The trailer of the game shows that there are going to be some really stunning visuals and introduces a unique musical score with a cowboy twang. It reflects the new protagonist’s interactions with wild horses and wildlife. There’s also a major encounter with a wolf.
On the PlayStation blog, Sucker Punch said that Yotei has a different plan this time and has distanced themselves from the organised samurai clans of Tsushima. So this time you will get to see more of an original first-person narrative. Andrew Goldfarb, Sucker Punch’s communications manager, said, “This new setting opens up possibilities for fresh mechanics and gameplay improvements.”
Further, the development team of the game has said that there are going to be some significant enhancements, such as expansive sightlines, dynamic weather effects, and realistic movement of vegetation.
The game drops in 2025, and the final date is still awaited.
