FF XIII sold over 1 million copies on day one

According to sales figures disclosed by Sinobi, Final Fantasy XIII has sold over 1 million copies on its first day of release. Even though these numbers might seem impressive, it’s perhaps unlikely that Square Enix will be able to meet its target of selling 2 million units in Japan. If Square Enix is to meet this sales target with Final Fantasy XIII, it would entail doubling the day one numbers– this is not impossible but highly improbable judging by sales trend of other games. Looking at the sales record of previous iterations in the series, Final Fantasy X sold 1.456 million copies on day-one, whereas Final Fantasy XII sold 1.441 million copies on the day of debut.
