Gearbox Software and 2K Games have announced that Duke Nukem Forever will be delayed yet again, with its release date moving from May 3 in and the U.S. and May 6 internationally to June 14 in the U.S. and June 10 internationally .
We’re shocked, and surprised that we are shocked. After all, Duke Nukem Forever is the most ironically named game ever – literally taking forever to develop, 15 years since Duke Nukem 3D released in 1996. The game was scheduled to release in 1997, and since then has baited fans with tantalizing images and videos, and, received five vapourware awards, including a lifetime achievement award.
Will not actually giving any reason for the one month and one week delay, Randy Pitchford, the president of Gearbox Software and executive producer of DNF, simply stated:
[RELATED_ARTICLE]“I’m very sorry for the added delay. We’ve all been working extremely hard and are very eager to deliver the game to you. I’ve been thinking of these lyrics from the great country song, ‘He’s The Duke’—’He told us if we waited we could Come Get Some, but I never knew Forever was going to be so long.’ If you’re like me, June cannot come quickly enough.”
