Another day, another PS4 launch delay as several sites are reporting that the launch of DriveClub, one of the launch titles for Sony’s next-gen, has been pushed back into Spring 2014.
The rumour comes a day after Ubisoft delayed Watch Dogs, a PS4 launch title to Q1 of the next fiscal year, The Crew, its own next gen racing game has also been delayed from Q1 2014 to Q2 2014 of the next fiscal year.
DriveClub was one the launch titles for the PS4, and Sony’s official DriveClub page still lists Nov 15, 2013 as the launch date. However, according to Kokatu and The Same Coin, the delay is inevitable.
According to Kokatu, ” To add some fuel to this rumor fire, today in San Francisco, Sony is holding an event to show off their PS4 games. Although DriveClub was originally part of the lineup, a Sony rep told me this afternoon that it has been removed due to a “scheduling conflict.”
When I asked if the game has been delayed, the Sony rep said they don’t comment on rumors and speculation”.
Pal Rustchnsky, DriveClub’s design director chose not to comment on this rumour and Tweets, “Unfortunately guys I don’t have any new information on DRIVECLUB to share. I’ve been out if the office for a week looking after my newborn!”
If this has any amount of truth in it, this would be a second major blow for the PS4 this week, as one of the key launch titles Watch Dogs has also been pushed back. This eventually leaves Sony with just two AAA first party launch titles – KillZone: Shadow Fall and Knack.
However, there is no official confirmation from Sony, something fishy going on this week. We’ll keep our eyes and ears open to keep you updated.
