Battlefield developer DICE has responded to a fan's tweet saying there are over 15 FrostBite games in development, including NFS Rivals, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Mirror's Edge 2, Star Wars and more.

DICE has officially confirmed that there are over 15 Frostbite games in development. According to Johan Andersson, technical director of DICE’s FrostBite team, revealed on Twitter while responding to a fan’s question about ‘Mantle’, an Application Programming Language tailor made for AMD graphics hardware.

It appears that EA has long term investment plans for FrostBite, as it’s developing almost all of its next-gen titles using the Mantle technology. Apart from Battlefield 4, titles such as NFS Rivals, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Mirror’s Edge 2, Star Wars: Battlefront and the next Mass Effect title will use the FrostBite engine.

Battlefield 4 launches on November 1, with NFS: Rivals to hit stores three weeks later on November 22.

The developers recently talked about the success of the Batllefield franchise and what needs to be done to maintain the momentum.

“I hate to say this, but storytelling does not come naturally to Swedes,” said Soderlund. “But we’re good at designing systems, and that’s what these games really are. Minecraft puts a box in front of you and says, ‘Do whatever you want with it.’ Battlefield is a system designed for entertainment rather than for telling you a story.”

There is no denying the fact that Frostbite can render stunning visuals, especially on PC and next gen hardware, so it makes sense to invest in the engine’s prowess. However, this doesn’t mean that all forthcoming EA titles will run on FrostBite 3. The title that impressed everyone at GamesCom – Titanfall, for which EA has publishing rights, uses its own engine and seems to be one of the biggest next-gen release.

That being said, over 15 FrostBite 3 games seems to be the future for EA as of now. Any guesses about the remaining titles apart from the ones mentioned? What games would you want see on Frostbite 3? Do let us know!
