Day 4 of the Elimination stage at the PGL CS2 Major 2024, and we had six teams competing for the last three spots in the playoffs of CS2’s first-ever Major. The games were bound to be intense, and let me tell you, our favourite CS superstars did not disappoint, unlike the game. More on this as we dive into all three matches that were played on the final day of the Elimination stage of the PGL CS2 Major –
In the first game of the day, Complexity took on FaZe. The EU superteam had been on an off-and-on run at this Major, and the odds, coming into this game, were tilted in their favour. Complexity had shown sparks of brilliance, but the American team did not seem to be a match for the winners of the 2022 Antwerp Major. That showed in the game when on both the maps of the Best of Three (Bo3) series, Nuke and Overpass, FaZe had Complexity beat 13-6. With that, FaZe became the first team on Day 4 of the Elimination stage of the PGL CS2 Major 2024.
The second game of the day had G2 take on Virus.Pro. A show of strength in the very first map of the Bo3 series seemed to be a trend on Day 4 of the Elimination stage of the PGL CS2 Major 2024. On Virtus.Pro’s map pick, Overpass, G2, pushed the game into overtime and showed that they were out to win. They lost the map 16:14.
However, their show of strength did send a chill down the spine of the orange outfit from Russia. Come the second map of the series, Inferno and G2 morphed into their match-winning self. And, as they say, fortune favours the bold. On Inferno, an unfortunate bug led the game to freeze for VP’s Dzhami ‘Jame’ Ali, handing G2 a round win, which, according to some, turned around the game in their favour. I know this is not the fortune that G2 would want, but at the end of the day, whatever they get, at this point, is accepted. They won on Inferno, 13-11, and took home the win on Anubis as well (13-6), where there was another bug that plagued VP’s chances of winning.

And, the story of outright domination, where you could make out from the start of the game, and in this case, it was NAVI. The men in yellow and black took paiN by storm, and won the Bo3 series 2-0. They took wins on Nuke and Mirage, 13-10 and 13-9, with Justinas ‘jL’ Lekavicius leading the charge for NAVI.
