CS2 Major 2024 – The Bo1 Saga ends with wins for Imperial, GamerLegion, and ECSTATIC
The Bo1 matches started with Apeks taking on Imperial on Overpass. Having won one game out of the two, both Apeks and Imperial were looking for their second victory, inching close to a spot in the Elimination stage. Imperial, thanks to some game-changing plays by João ‘felps’ Vasconcellos walked home as the victors. The second game of the day took us to Vertigo where Gamer Legion took on Legacy, and beat them 13-4. The Bo1 games on the second day of the CS2 Major were all clean sweeps. In the last, one-map face-off on Overpass, ECSTATIC got their second win as they beat Lynn Vision 13-8.
Then came the much-awaited Bo2 matches. The first game was played between Heroic and Eternal Fire. Both teams, coming into this match had two wins to their name. However, Heroic took no time in ending the run of form for Eternal Fire, securing a 2-0 win over Eternal Fire. Thanks to a comprehensive team effort, the predominantly Danish powerhouse, raced into the Elimination stage, becoming the first team from the Opening stage of the CS2 Major 2024, to secure a spot in the Elimination stage.

Coming from the second last spot on the table at the end of Day 1, TheMongolz sent AMKAL packing, as they secured a much-needed 2-1 win. A tug of war took place in the first two maps of the series, as both TheMongolz and AMKAL defeated the other on their map picks. Mongolz took the win on Nuke, picked by AMKAL, and AMKAL won on Mirage that had been picked by Mongolz. In the decider map, Inferno, TheMongolz faced stiff competition from AMKAL, however, the score line at the end, read 13-10 in favour of TheMongolz. With that AMKAL, became the first team to be knocked out of the PGL CS2 Major 2024.
In the third Bo2 game, we got our second team to move secure a spot in the Elimination stage of this CS2 Major. Cloud9, led by the Russian trio of Ilya ‘Perfecto’ Zalutskiy, Kirill ‘Boombl4’ Mikhailov, and Denis ‘electroNic’ Sharipov sent SAW packing with a 2-0 sweep. In this two-map battle, the first map, Nuke saw an intense battle between the two squads as they took proceedings into two over times. However, come the second map, Anubis, SAW were of no match to Cloud9’s firepower.
The second team to be eliminated on the second day of the Opening stage of the PGL CS2 Major 2024, was KOI. The EU roster failed to match up to the experienced pack of fraggers from Brazil. It was a clean sweep for FURIA on both the maps. Overpass ended with a scoreline of 13-9 in favour of FURIA, and Vertigo saw FURIA score 13 round wins over 9 of KOI.
