Crytek teases us with ‘7 Wonders of Crysis 3’ trailer
As the February 2013 release of Crysis 3 gets closer, the geeks up at Crytek have upped the pace at which they’ve been releasing teasers. After a host of videos that showcased the graphics, gameplay footage and the awesome bow in action, we now have another video titled “7 Wonders of Crysis 3” that showcases the thought that went into creating this part of the game.
The video takes on a far more theatrical persona than any of the ones before it, introducing Crysis 3 as the product of a vision shared by EA and Albert Hughes. Hughes shares that the journey of Crysis 3 was one where the game was to take on a more cinematic feel, something like a narrative short. As you may have already seen in the video, most of the game was storyboarded just the way a movie is, and then translated into a visual masterpiece.
Crysis 3 is set in New York, a city that has been broken down into seven zones. Prophet returns to the urban jungle, in a sort of a “revenge quest” as he has found out the real reason the evil corporation CELL’s motives to build the nanodome around New York. While the people think it’s to protect them, the domes have been built in an attempt by CELL to grab some tech that would allow them to further their goals of global domination. While the return of Prophet is only a given, we also see another old character, Psycho, who comes back to help Prophet shut down the rogue CELL organization.
Crysis 3 is set for a tentative February 2013 launch. We say tentative because between now and then, anything could happen to delay the release. But so far, it looks like Crytek is going to make the deadline. The game will be available on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 and as usual, the graphics for the console version will be slightly “toned down.” If you’re wondering what the deal is, take a look at these requirements:
Minimum requirements
- Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8
- DirectX 11 graphics card with 1GB Video RAM
- Dual core CPU
- 2GB Memory (3GB on Vista)
- Nvidia GTS 450 with an Intel Core2 Duo 2.4Ghz (E6600) or AMD Radeon HD5770 with AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.7Ghz (5200 )
Minimum requirements to run the game on highest game setting in addition to the above
- 8GB Memory
- Nvidia GTX 680 with an Intel Core i7-2600k
- AMD Radeon HD7970 with AMD Bulldozer FX4150
Unless there’s been some silent update to our consoles that has unlocked some insane processing and GPU capabilities, there is no way one would get the same visual experience of Crysis 3 running on a PC (at highest settings) as compared to the console. However, we would still expect it to be insanely good.
