Crysis 3, the long awaited first person shooter from Crytek Studios, is now one step closer to final launch after its multiplayer beta was made public last night for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. The beta is currently free to play and includes two maps and two multiplayer modes (out of the eight that are planned for the final version) and can be downloaded from EA’s Origin store on the PC and the respective marketplaces for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

The two multiplayer modes currently available to play include the Crash Site and the Hunter modes. The former was also included in Crysis 2 and involves two teams fighting to hold key points on a map and gaining points for how long a point is held. The latter involves two players (Hunters) decked in nano-suits in permanent stealth mode, fighting against 14 heavily armed players, each of whom becomes a Hunter after getting killed by one.

In related news, Nvidia released the latest iteration of their drivers for GeForce graphics cards, in time for the Crysis 3 multiplayer beta. The new 313.95 beta driver is expected to improve multi-GPU performance and overall performance for games like Crysis 3, Assassin’s Creed 3, Far Cry 3 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. You can download the beta drivers directly from Nvidia’s website.
