BioWare confirms Dragon Age III Inquisition, scheduled for 2013

BioWare has announced the third chapter in its epic RPG saga, Dragon Age. The game is titled Dragon Age III Inquisition and is expected to hit store shelves in 2013. The game will be built using DICE’s Frostbite 2 technology.

Some details of the new Dragon Age game were revealed on the official website. The site says “The next game will be called Dragon Age III: Inquisition. We won’t be talking about the story of the game today. Though you can make some guesses from the title. This game is being made by a lot of the same team that has been working on Dragon Age since Dragon Age: Origins. It’s composed of both experienced BioWare veterans and talented new developers.”

The site continues, “We are working on a new engine, which we believe will allow us to deliver a more expansive world, better visuals, more reactivity to player choices, and more customization. At PAX East, we talked about armor and followers… Yeah, that kind of customization. We’ve started with Frostbite 2 from DICE as a foundation to accomplish this.”

According to the official site, the game has been in development for about two years.

What remains to be seen is what platforms the game will launch on. With the next generation console on the horizon, is it possible that Dragon Age III will be a launch title for the PS4 and the Xbox 720? Could the game also make an appearance on the Wii U? E3 is usually the place where the biggest and best in gaming are announced and that is where we think we will see more details of the game – E3 2013.
