Best cross-platform games on the Xbox One

There was a time when there was a rigid divide between the various platforms. So if you owned an Xbox and your buddy had a PlayStation or a PC, then you two won’t be able to play online together. However, that wall is slowly crumbling as console makers, as well as developers, have started to embrace cross-platform play. This allows gamers on different platforms to play with each other as long as they have the same game. However, not all games support this feature. Here’s a look at four games available on Amazon that support the feature.

Rocket League

Rocket League supports cross-platform play between all consoles as well as PC. This means that Xbox One owners can play with/against others on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and the PC. As for the game itself, it combines football and cars together to create a game that is unlike any other that is currently available in the market. It sees players get behind the wheel of a vehicle and push an oversized ball towards their opponents’ goal while protecting their own goal. The game’s controls are simple enough to learn but can be quite difficult to master, which might be music to the ears of perfectionists who strive to be the best.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) offers cross-platform support between the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. This decision makes sense considering PC players might get an edge considering the fact that a keyboard and mouse offer more accurate control when shooting. In case you aren’t familiar with PUBG, the game sees you and 99 other players get dropped into a map with nothing in their inventory. It’s up to the players to find weapons and other items and then fight it out on an ever-shrinking map to be the last one standing.

Minecraft

The most notable feature of the cross-platform support in Minecraft is the fact that it not only allows Xbox One players to play against others on consoles and PC, it also allows the same to those playing on mobile phones. In other words, the game supports cross-platform play between the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS and Android. As for the game itself, Minecraft places you in a near-endless world where you are free to recreate the world as you see fit. Thanks to the simplistic graphics and near-limitless possibilities for the imaginative, the game is very popular with gamers across all age groups.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

The newest game in the long-running Call of Duty series, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, offers cross-platform support across the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the PC. Like its predecessors, the game offers a bombastic single-player campaign with a plot that gives a Hollywood blockbuster a run for its money. Of course, the game also has a robust multiplayer offering with multiple gameplay modes such as Deathmatch, Domination, Free-For-All and more.
