Bandai Namco announces Tekken 7 with Unreal Engine 4
Japanese game developer and producer Bandai Namco has unveiled the next iteration of the popular fighting game, Tekken at EVO 2014
After a long haul, game developer Bandai Namco announced Tekken 7 yesterday. The game was unveiled at the Evolution Championship fighting series game tournament in Las Vegas.
After showcasing the trailer, Tekken creator Katushiro Harada said that the game will be running on Unreal Engine 4 and can deliver the visual quality expected from a next-gen game. Unreal Engine 4 also makes it easier to port the game onto any platform which can support the engine.
Harada Said
"The power and flexibility means that we can focus our efforts on making Tekken 7 the best possible game without worrying about spending time creating a stand-alone graphic engine"
Harada’s team is working in Japan with Epic Game's engine group to create the game. Studio head at Epic Games, Japan, Taka Kawasaki said:
"This marriage is perfect — the most powerful engine in gaming along with one of the most enduring brands in fighting games. We have no doubt that these forces coming together will yield fantastic results."
Bandai has not confirmed what all platforms will be getting the game but we we are expecting an announcement at Comic-Con which is happening in San Diego on July 25.
