American-style games for the gamer in you

American-style games for the gamer in you

Have you ever heard of the term Ameritrash? In the case of Ameritrash, the ‘trash’ bit does not come with a negative connotation. In fact, it is almost a term of endearment. Ameritrash refers to American-style board games that are as distinct from their long-lost cousins the Euros (European style games) as chalk and cheese. While European games focus more on strategy and being competitive, Ameritrash is all about the theme and a lot of drama. In the case of American-style games, the playtimes are significantly longer than their European counterparts and the mechanics of the game are usually built around the theme. Sounds interesting?

Have a look at some of these Ameritrash games that we think will be a good choice for you and your buddies who are looking to have a good time with tabletop games.

Talisman: The Magical Quest is a 2-6 player adventure board game set in a high fantasy medieval world. You choose from 14 different characters to start your exciting journey to collect various items to help you acquire the Crown of Command. Every character has different powers and stats. The gameplay is based on dice-roll and card-drafting. There's also a twist – once a player attains the crown of command, it becomes a one-versus-all with all the other players combining to take down that one player. The one drawback we would consider here is that this game would have been even more exciting if it came with miniatures.
