Activision confirms Call of Duty Black Ops 2

Updated on 03-May-2012

First Person Shooter fans rejoice. Activision has confirmer the next Call of Duty game and surprise, surprise, its Call of Duty Black Ops 2. We all knew that a call of Duty game was in the works but the unclear fact was the timeline in which the game would be set, the plot and the final title of the game.

A video has been teased that shows that the game will be set in a futuristic scenario where robots will fight along side humans, Terminator Salvation anyone? The previous Black Ops game was set during the 1960’s Cold War, so a futuristic scenario is quite a change in setting for the franchise. The game takes place in the year 2025.

It will be interesting to see how Treyarch, the developer behind the game, pulls off a futuristic warfare first person shooter as it has the reputation of Infinity Ward to live up to.

Not many details of the game are known, but the game will hit store shelves on 13th November 2012. Just like E3 2011, we expect to see a live demo of the game at the Microsoft press briefing at E3 2012.

The trailer reveals some snippets of gameplay and it is clear that players will be able to control robotic aerial drones, go horseback riding and control fighter planes.

The biggest highlight of all the past Call of Duty games has been its multiplayer modes rather than the single player campaigns. We hope to see the developers bring some new and interesting mechanics to the multiplayer mode of the game.
