Action games for the Nintendo Switch

Updated on 07-May-2020

The Nintendo Switch has become one of the most reliable and popular consoles this generation. With some of the best games on the market, the Nintendo Switch has slowly become a real powerhouse. After the failure of the Wii U, Nintendo was looking to bounce back in a big way and with the Switch, the company has climbed to the top of the gaming mountain once again. One of the biggest selling points of the console is amazing games. So, check out the 4 best action games on the console.

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The Switch had its first big hit with The Legend of Zelda: The Breath of the Wild. The game is a large open-world action-adventure that does not hold your hand, rather it expects you to learn the systems in the game and make your way through a beautiful world filled with amazing wonders and deadly enemies. The game has won a number of awards and it’s clear why. It’s a fun-filled action game that will not only entertain you but give you a sense of accomplishment.

Bayonetta 2

A port of the original game from the Nintendo Wii U, Bayonetta 2 is only available on the Switch now. The game is a thrill ride of action, bullets and is one of the few games that looks visually stunning on the portable console. Bayonetta 2 was developed by Platinum Games and it shows in the fast-paced combat and zany story.

Doom

Doom is one of the most intense games on the Switch and is also one of the best ports on the portable console. Even though the game runs on a locked 30 frames per second, it’s still a fast-paced action game that puts its foot on the pedal and does not stop until the end of the game. You play as the Doomslayer, a mystical warrior trapped in hell who now has the opportunity for some payback.

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus

Although not as polished as the first game and with a more story-driven approach to the gameplay, Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus follows the events of the first game and sees BJ Blazkowicz battling the Nazis once again. The game is an action-packed thrill ride through brutalist architecture and the shooting is as good as the first game. Check it out if you’re into smart FPS games with a rich and detailed story.
