Updated on 17-Feb-2020

With PlayStation 4 sales reaching new heights, gamers are looking for new titles to add to their collection. One genre, that is popular among gamers is horror. With creepy enemies, terrifying sounds and a level of uncertainty with every step you take, players are always on the edge of their seats. Here we look at some horror titles available for your PS4 to scare you silly.

Alien Isolation

Alien Isolation is one of the few games that truly delivers on the scares. The game sort of continues the story of the first film with Amanda Ripley looking for her mother and coming into contact with the fearsome Alien from the films. The game is stealth-based so if you’re looking for an action-packed ride you will be disappointed as the game takes a more strategic approach when it comes to dealing with enemies. You’re better off hiding and sneaking around rather than jumping head first into battle. The graphics look bright and vibrant with the star of the show being the titular Alien. The environments are a throwback to the design of the films with a very retro yet futuristic look. A spooky atmosphere, creepy setting, and stealth-based gameplay make this one of the creepiest games on the platform.

Evil Within 2

Developed by Tango Gameworks, Evil Within 2 uses the successful formula of its predecessor and adds a modern approach to it. The protagonist, Sebastian, is on a mission to rescue his daughter from a mysterious organization called STEM. The game moves away from a linear approach to more like an open world which you can explore without compromising on the pace of the game. The environment looks spooky with something waiting for you at every corner. The visuals are modern and detailed and the strange sounds add to the experience. With big monsters chasing you at every point, you have to look for a more strategic approach to the battle. It makes the game more fun and challenging. With a fearful environment, improved gameplay and scary visuals, this game will definitely scare you.

Resident Evil 2 Remake

The remake of an old classic game that truly delivers on the hype and expectations. Capcom retains the popular parts of the first game and adds a modern approach to it. The storyline is as engaging as the original and keeps you on the edge. With modern visuals, improved combat, and gameplay that takes horror to another level, this is a game that is as scary as it is exciting. The game is set in Raccoon city where everything is intriguing, be it the statues that have secret compartments or an underground scientific lab. It’s a survival horror game in which you have to decide what to carry and how to use your limited inventory. The campaign looks more modern with some interesting additions to it and a bigger world to explore. Resident Evil 2 remake shows how fun a modern version of a classic game can be and while doing so also sets the standards of how a remake should be done.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

Resident Evil has been pioneering action games since the 90s and adds new mechanics with each generation. With the First Person perspective and more horrifying visuals, it is scarier than ever before. The game becomes even more challenging with obstacles like locked doors and mystery puzzles that the player encounters. With survival on the line, there are strategies and decisions to be made at different points. The encounter and fights with the enemies are more thrilling and scarier. Enemies come from nowhere, and you have to be alert every time. With brutal combat, an engaging storyline and terrifying visuals, Resident Evil has once again delivered on the promise of an action-packed horror game.
