Exclusive titles build a fan following for a particular gaming platform; but cross-platform games form the bulk of the games gamers play in a year. With gaming PC and consoles touting different levels of power and graphical prowess, there are some games that look better on one system when compared to another. But, if you own a PlayStation 4 and are looking to pick up some cross-platform games, then here are four to choose from.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
If Doom is credited with popularising and inventing the First-Person-Shooting genre, then PlayerUnknown’s Battleground (popularly known as PUBG) is the reason we have the battle royale gaming genre. PUBG may be one of the most popular games on mobile, but it started out as a PC game making its way to the home console. If you want to delve into the world of PUBG on your PlayStation 4, know that the game is available for the system. The graphics of PUBG are of course way better on the PS4 when compared to the mobile version of the game. The online matchmaking is swift too. Do know that to play online with your friends, you need to have an active PlayStation Plus subscription.
Rocket League
Is it car racing or is it football? Maybe, it’s both! Rocket League is a fast-paced game where players use rocket-powered cars to score goals. A simple philosophy with mechanics that are fun to use. You can also perform a number of stunts in your car to add a level of excitement to the gameplay. There are a lot of ways to play – 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, or the most intense 4v4. Don’t love soccer, you have Ice Hockey and Basketball modes in the game as well. Cars can be as unique as you want, ranging from simple cars to even the Batmobile and an Ice Cream Truck! The game supports cross-play which means that if you are on a PlayStation 4 and your friends have an Xbox One or are playing on a PC, you can still play with them.
Minecraft
The easiest way to describe Minecraft is that it is a game that lets you unleash your creativity to the maximum. The game has won countless awards and is breaking records years after its initial release. Don’t be fooled by the blocky graphics of this game. It is the gameplay that is immersive and will keep you hooked for hours. You can build what you want, go where you want and literally do what you want in this adventure game. You can play alone or with friends. With cross platform, you can invite your friends over to help you build and explore your world.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
The Call of Duty franchise is one of the most successful franchises in gaming. In the latest instalment, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, a CIA officer and British forces team up with rebels from the fictional country of Urzikstan and fight against Russian forces who have invaded the country. As with other Call of Duty games, you are armed to the teeth with a range of weapons. The gameplay is intense and full of action sequences in both single player and multiplayer modes. The single-player campaign is immersive with its intense set-piece moments and the multiplayer has a hose of new modes to keep you coming back for more.
