WWE is set to go a historic transformation starting today as for the first time, Monday Night Raw will move from satellite television to an OTT platform. Starting Monday, WWE RAW will stream on Netflix and the first episode will see a PLE-like event starring some of the biggest names in the wrestling entertainment business. This will be the first time since 1993, when WWE RAW was started, that the programme will not be aired on television.
Several WWE wrestlers and industry experts have hailed this as a bold move. The high-octane premiere is expected to feature top WWE stars like John Cena, Roman Reigns, Bianca Belair, Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Seth Rollins, and more. The WWE RAW episode on Netflix is also expected to have special appearances from Logan Paul and rapper Travis Scott, adding an extra layer of star power to this highly anticipated event.
The WWE RAW Netflix premiere will take place at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, USA. The first WWE Raw stream begins at 8 p.m. EST on Monday, January 6. Netflix will also make the episode available on its platform once the stream ends.
As of now, Netflix holds exclusive streaming rights to Raw in the US, Canada, UK, and Latin America and will also make the show available globally.
Apart from this, WWE star John Cena will make a special appearance on the show to kick off his farewell tour. Cena will compete full-time during the year as per reports and will retire at the end of 2025.
WWE and Netflix have signed a $5 billion deal for the next 10 years during which Monday night RAW will streamed on the OTT platform on a weekly basis. Other than this, Netflix will also make major events like WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Royal Rumble available for non-US viewers.
